Licra hosts football tournament to unite refugee and student communities in Paris
Fare member Ligue Internationale Contre le Racisme et l’Antisémitisme (Licra) organised a futsal tournament to bring together refugee and students communities living in Paris.
Entitled 'Deux mi-temps pour un meme but' (ENG 'Two halftimes for one cause') took place on Saturday 18 March and was organised by Licra and students of the Paris Institute of Political Studies as part of the international week of action against racism and anti-Semitism.
The five-a-side tournament was contested by students of the Parisian institute and refugees living in Baudricourt asylum centre.
The initiative was followed by a conference on how sport and culture can help fight racism. A debate was held to discuss the topic and participants included Licra Paris President David Olivier Kaminsky, author - painter - comedian,Thierry Paul Valette, French writer, Karim Amelia, and para-athlete Ryadh Sallem.
After the conference, attendees and participants were invited to continue the discussions and network over drinks.
