The following incidents of racism, xenophobia, extreme nationalism or homophobia have been reported to Fare during July 2014. This list is only likely to reflect a proportion of the incidents that occurred.

All reports have been brought to Fare’s attention through eye-witness or media accounts. A Fare observer scheme is also currently at place at UEFA club competitions to monitor discriminatory behaviour.

Fare has third party reporting status with UEFA, and FIFA on international matches, and at a national level we can support incident reports made by our members.

01 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: Sliema Wanderers FC vs. Ferencvárosi TC

A group of Ferencvárosi TC supporters performed racist chants targeting Sliema players.

UEFA recorded the incident.

03 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: Diosgyori VTK v Birkirkara

A group of Diosgyori fans chanted anti-Roma and homophobic abuse at Birkirkara players.

Details of the incident were passed to UEFA for action.

UEFA handed down a partial stadium closure to Diosgyori for the club’s next UEFA competitions match.

5 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: GNK Dinamo Zagreb v VMFD Žalgiris

A group of VMFD Žalgiris fans displayed a far-right banner.

Details of the incident were passed to UEFA for action.

10 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: FC Spartak Trnava v Hibernians FC

Groups of Spartak Trnava supporters displayed far-right symbols and preformed anti-Semitic chants.

Details of the incident were passed to UEFA for action.

Spartak Trnava was sanctioned with a partial stadium closure for its next UEFA competitions match.

10 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: Ferencvárosi TC v Sliema Wanderers FC

A group of Ferencvárosi TC supporters displayed far-right banners and performed Nazi salutes.

Details of the incident were passed to UEFA for action.

For the incidents in both first and second leg matches (01 and 10 July) against Sliema, UEFA sanctioned Ferencvárosi TC with a partial stadium closure for its next UEFA competitions match and a fine of 20 000€.

13 July 2014 – Pre-season friendly, Poland: Slask Wroclaw v Flota Swinoujscie

A group of Slask Wroclaw fans racially abused and attacked a group of five foreign supporters.

Stadium authorities informed the police and the club about the incident.

15 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: AC Sparta Praha v FC Levadia Tallinn

A Sparta Praha supporter displayed a far-right symbol.

Details of the incident were passed to UEFA for action.

15 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: HŠK Zrinjski v NK Maribor

A group of NK Maribor fans displayed a far-right banner.

Details of the incident were passed to UEFA for action.

16 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: Legia Warszawa v Saint Patrick's Athletic

A group of Legia fans displayed a far-right banner.

17 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: Dundalk FC v HNK Hajduk Split

Ivorian Hajduk winger, Jean Evrard Kouassi, was subject to racist chants performed by a group of Dundalk fans.

17 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: FC Dinamo Minsk v Myllykosken Pallo-47

A group Dinamo Minsk fans displayed far-right symbols.

17 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: HNK Rijeka v Ferencvárosi TC

A group of Ferencvárosi fans displayed several neo-Nazi banners.

A number of CSKA Sofia fans displayed far-right symbols.

A group of Diósgyőri supporters displayed several far-right banners.

20 July 2014 – Polish Ekstraklasa: Slask Wroclaw v Ruch Chorzow

A group of Slask Wroclaw supporters displayed a neo-Nazi banner.

22 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: Debreceni VSC v Cliftonville FC

A group of Debreceni VSC fans displayed far-right banners and performed Nazi salutes.

22 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League sanction: Paris Saint Germain v Chelsea FC

Paris Saint Germain was handed down a partial stadium closure for its next UEFA competitions match.

22 July 2014 – Pre-season friendly U-21, Croatia: HNK Rijeka v Manchester City

French Manchester City midfielder, Seko Fofana, was subjected to racial abuse from Rijeka players on the pitch.

22 July 2014 – Pre-season friendly U-19, Germany: Lütgendortmunder Verein v Maccabi Netanya

Members of the German political party “The Right” (Die Rechte) present at the match displayed neo-Nazi flags and performed anti-Semitic chants.

22 July 2014 – Pre-season friendly, Austria: Maccabi Haifa v Lille

Players of Maccabi were subjected to anti-Semitic abuse by local fans.

23 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: FC NK Maribor v HŠK Zrinjski

A group of Maribor fans displayed far-right banners.

24 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: FC Steaua Bucureşti v Strømsgodset IF

A group of Steaua fans prefomed anti-Roma chants.

24 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: FC Chikhura Sachkhere v Bursaspor

A number of Chikhura Sachkhere supporters displayed a neo-Nazi banner.

24 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: FC Koper v Neftçi PFK

A group of FC Koper supporters chanted anti-Roma slogans and performed monkey chants directed at black players of FC Neftci.

A group of Ferencvárosi fans performed Nazi salutes

27 July 2014 – Italian FA (FIGC) vice-president Carlo Tavecchio

Italian FA vice-president and candidate to the federation’s presidency Carlo Tavecchio referred to African players as “banana eaters”.

29 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: ŠK Slovan Bratislava v FC Sheriff

A group of Slovan Brastilava fans displayed a far-right banner and performed monkey noises towards black players of FC Sheriff.

30 July 2014 – UEFA Champions League: Feyenoord v Beşiktaş J.K.

Supporters of Beşiktaş J.K. were religiously abused by a number of Feyenoord fans.

30 July 2014 – Peruvian Primera División: Cienciano v Alianza Lima

Players of Alianza Lima were racially abused by a number of Cienciano fans.

31 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: FC Dinamo Moskva v Hapoel Kiryat Shmona FC

A group of Dinamo Moskva supporters performed racist chants and Nazi salutes.

31 July 2014 – UEFA Europa League: Ruch Chorzów v Esbjerg fB

Esbjerg Danish-Portuguese defender Eddi Almeida Gomes was subjected to racial abuse performed by Ruch Chorzów supporters
