Celebrate World Refugee Day through Football

To mark World Refugee Day, we are launching the Fare Refugee Grants campaign to support organisations, grassroots clubs, NGOs, supporter groups, and community initiatives that want to organise football-related activities with and for refugees.

The grant campaign is being launched alongside a guide developed in partnership with The Sport Effect, offering tips and best practices on how to create an impactful World Refugee Day football activity that promotes inclusion and brings communities together.

We want to support creative initiatives that promote inclusion, celebrate diversity, and challenge stereotypes through the game.

Your activity could be:

• a mixed tournament bringing together refugees and local communities;

• a multicultural food event after a match;

• workshops on sport, wellbeing, and inclusion;

• a Mum & Daughter football session for refugee women and local participants;

• a photo exhibition or podcast featuring refugee players and their stories;

• a social media or video campaign about how football helps people feel welcome;

• a halftime awareness activity during a local match;

• or any other creative idea that uses football to connect communities.

To support these activities, we are offering up to 50 grants of €250.

We welcome applications from organisations and groups working with refugees and local communities who want to create positive, inclusive, and community-driven events.

Funded activities can take place throughout the summer and up to the end of September.

If you would like to be part of this movement, we invite you to complete the application form. The deadline to apply is 10 July. Selected applicants will be notified in a week from applying
