Successful grantees

As part of the Fare Refugee campaign, Fare offered grants to organisations using football and sport to support refugees, asylum seekers and displaced communities.

We are delighted to highlight the successful grantees, along with the locations and dates of their events. From community tournaments and football camps to workshops, exhibitions and cultural events, the projects reflect the many ways sport can strengthen solidarity and challenge exclusion.

Belgium

Croix-Rouge de Rendeux 

Visite du stade Roi Baudouin et rencontre de l'asbl Vie Féminine

22 August 2026, King Baudouin Stadium, Brussels

A cultural outing for residents participating in the Younited Belgium programme, combining a visit to King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels with a meeting hosted by the women's rights organisation Vie Féminine. Facilitators lead a discussion on women's rights in Belgium, using the trip to connect sport and dialogue and questions of gender equality.

Movie & Pizzas

17 September 2026, Bovigny

A film and pizza evening celebrating the women involved in the YOUNITED project. Designed to strengthen group cohesion beyond the pitch, the event provides a relaxed, sociable setting for participants to spend time together and enjoy a shared cultural experience.

Winnipeg Newcomer Sport Academy 

Camp Soccer

10–14 August 2026, Winnipeg

A week-long summer camp for children aged 5–14, designed to develop their skills through a range of games and play activities, including daily football sessions. The camp will conclude with a children-versus-staff match on the final afternoon.

Denmark

Girl Power 

Girl Power Football Summit

24–27 September 2026, Copenhagen

A four-day event combining a friendly football tournament with a conference on women's leadership in sport, featuring expert talks, panel discussions and workshops. Eight international teams of mixed local and refugee players compete in the Girl Power Football World Cup. The summit provides a space for refugee women and others to contribute to conversations on inclusion, diversity and cross-border solidarity.

Ecuador

FUDELA 

Sports Without Borders Festival

28 August 2026, Quito

Held to mark Ecuador's accession to the 1951 Refugee Convention, this festival in Quito brings together children, young people and families from host, refugee and migrant communities. Participants will take part in mixed-team football, basketball, volleyball and golf, followed by a collaborative creation of a “World Without Borders” mural. Through sport and art, the event promotes teamwork, respect for diversity and peaceful coexistence.

France

Marseille Rainbow Sport 

Apéro Sport Plage – Special Refugees!

06 August 2026, Plage du Prophète, Marseille

A friendly evening of beach sport and social connection at Plage du Prophète in Marseille, aimed particularly at migrants, refugees, asylum seekers and people at risk of isolation. Combining accessible beach football, foot-volley and pétanque with a shared aperitif, the event provides a welcoming first point of contact and uses sport to promote inclusion, wellbeing and integration.

Caram'elles 

Ceremony welcoming refugee women to the football team

31 August 2026, Nice

A welcome event introducing refugee women and asylum seekers to the club through training sessions, matches and a celebration party. Open to women of all ages, with no advance reservation required, the event extends a special invitation to displaced women to participate in football in a safe and supportive environment.

Yoga and Sport with Refugees 

What is the actual impact of sport on the mental health of people in exile?

29 July 2026, Paris

A seminar exploring the impact of sport on the mental and physical health of people in exile, combining lived experience, professional expertise and hands-on movement. A round table discussion brings together YSR's exiled coaches, students and volunteers with a doctor specialising in exile-related trauma. Participants also take part in a short yoga session and reflect on how sport supports wellbeing and integration.

Yoga and Sport with Refugees

1–2 August 2026, Spanos Field, Lesvos

A women's football tournament on Lesvos celebrating the island's first female team, which brings together refugee and local women coached by a refugee coach. Developed in response to women seeking a space of their own, the two-day event uses football to open conversations on gender equality, challenge racism, and place a refugee-led team at its centre.

Iraq

Step UK 

Girls' Football for Social Cohesion and Psychosocial Wellbeing

1–7 August 2026, refugee camp, Iraq

A football programme for refugee girls aged 9–17, using the game to strengthen social cohesion, support psychosocial wellbeing and build confidence through teamwork, leadership and active participation. Delivered in a safe and supportive environment, the activity provides the girls in the camp, many of whom enjoy football but have few opportunities to play organised sport, a space to build friendships, develop communication skills and take part in regular physical activity.

Yousport Social Club 

Beyond the Paperwork: Making Sense of Immigration Law

14–18 September 2026, Milan

A training session equipping coaches and staff with practical knowledge of the legal frameworks affecting the people they support. With players from more than 18 nationalities, the club uses case studies to strengthen its coaches’s understanding of migration status and help them respond more effectively to players questions as well as direct players to the appropriate support.

Nigeria

She Football 

Football for Social Inclusion

13 August 2026, Nigeria

A community programme bringing refugees, migrants and members of the host community together through football sessions, life skills workshops and intercultural exchanges. Open to women, girls, boys and men of different ages, abilities and nationalities, the project places particular attention to refugee women and girls, who often face additional barriers to accessing sport. Through football, participants will build friendships, reduce isolation and while strengthening physical and mental wellbeing, self-confidence, gender equality and mutual understanding across cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds.

Poland

Union of Visegrad Scholarship Programme Alumni in Poland 

Marathon of Diversities

23–24 September 2026, Radom

A two-part project in Radom combining a conference on refugee rights in Poland with an integration football tournament. The conference brings refugees together with migration and legalisation specialists to discuss the challenges facing people from Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus and elsewhere. Mixed teams of refugees, lawyers and students go on to play football to strengthen ties with the local community.

Spain

Red Deporte 

Football for the Refugee Community in Madrid

6 September 2026, Vallecas, Madrid

A football evening for families, children and young people living at the government refugee centre in Vallecas, Madrid. The event will bring the centre's diverse communities together to play football, connect and spend time with one another.

Associació Esportiva Ramassà 

Inclusive Women's Football for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Migrants – awareness campaign

22 July 2026, Sant Pere de Ribes, and September across Barcelona province

A programme of awareness-raising talks and outreach activities led by players from Ramassà's inclusive women's football project. Activities include a session at the summer camp organised by FC Barcelona player, Aitana Bonmatí , in Sant Pere de Ribes, alongside events across the province of Barcelona. The event will promote football as a tool for the social inclusion of refugee women.

CDE Dragones de Lavapiés 

Dragones Open House: Football, Memory and Immigrant Flavours

26 September 2026, Parque Casino de la Reina, Madrid

An open-doors community tournament at the club's pitch in Parque Casino de la Reina, Madrid, timed with the back-to-school season. Families who are new to and those already involved will play mixed matches before sharing a community meal prepared with Migra La Food. The event will bring together football, migration stories and food to celebrate the diversity of players and families.

Germany

Queerstion Media 

Queer Goals: Football, Belonging and Refugee Pride

30 September 2026, Hannover, Germany

A one-day community event bringing together LGBTQI+ refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and local allies through football and storytelling. Mixed football matches, team-building games and shared food will sit alongside storytelling circles where participants will share experiences of migration, resilience and belonging. Through sport and dialogue, the event will challenge stereotypes and strengthen solidarity between refugee and host communities.

Sweden

Liga Tolerantnosti (League of Tolerance) 

Summer football camp with and for refugees

25–26 July 2026, Östhammar, Uppsala region

A two-day summer camp organised with and for Ukrainian and other refugees alongside local residents in Sweden's Östhammar municipality. Free to attend and open to children aged 3–14 and their families, the camp combines football training with creativity and self-expression workshops.

Thailand

PlayOnside 

International Youth Day

12 August 2026, Mae Sot

A celebration of International Youth Day highlighting the talent and leadership of migrant and refugee youth displaced in Thailand. Twelve young leaders taking part in PlayOnside's six-month leadership course will design, budget, plan and deliver the event themselves, leading activity-based learning sessions for younger migrant children in their communities.

The Salam Project CIC 

International Refugee Football Tournament 4 Peace

25 July 2026, London

A refugee youth football tournament bringing together young people from West, East, Central and North African refugee communities. Between matches, short workshops explore citizenship, community cohesion and diversity, while local organisations present the support available to refugees and their families.

African Rainbow Family 

Goals Without Borders: ARF Refugee Week Football Match

31 August 2026, Manchester

A mixed football tournament in Manchester bringing refugees together in a welcoming match. Teams are deliberately mixed to encourage integration and friendship across backgrounds. Open to participants of all abilities and genders, the event uses football to promote for solidarity and inclusion.

QFL 

Refugee Solidarity Tournament

8 September 2026, Brighton

A ten-team, six-a-side tournament raising funds for the grassroots refugee charity the Hummingbird Project. The event welcomes a new Brighton-based refugee team into the league and provides a visible show of solidarity and support for refugees and displaced people.

Bangali Go CIC 

Celebrating Universal Refuge in Sport

8 September 2026, Oadby, Leicestershire

A community football tournament in Leicestershire bringing together teams from different backgrounds, many of whom face barriers to physical activity and learning English. By connecting groups that rarely meet, the tournament uses sport to strengthen community relations and support physical and mental wellbeing.

We Move

7–8 August 2026, Liverpool

An inclusive two-days of football designed to engage women and girls who have not previously attended sessions, with mothers and daughters encouraged to participate together. Delivered with local women's refugee and asylum-seeker organisations and Liverpool County FA, the activity promotes confidence, wellbeing and social connection while strengthening family bonds through sport.

Khalsa Youth Football Academy 

KFA Refugee Inclusion Pop-Up Exhibition – Striving for Unity

1 July – 30 September 2026, The Galleria, Hatfield, and touring venues

A portable exhibition featuring 25 full-colour panels that share refugee stories and explore the role of football and futsal in building belonging and community cohesion. Launching at The Galleria in Hatfield, the exhibition will tour venues including Letchworth and selected KFA Futsal Grand Prix events. It will create a welcoming space to challenge stereotypes, celebrate diversity and signpost community support.

Zimbabwe Newport Volunteering Association 

Newport Cohesion Match

30 August 2026, Kemp grounds, Newport, Wales

A friendly, mixed-gender football match in Newport bringing together a refugee team and members of the local host community. Delivered with partners including the Football Association of Wales, Newport City Council, Newport County FC and local refugee organisations, the event will combine football with information and advice stalls to connect communities and highlight available support.

I Speak Football 

International Migrants Day Tournament

September 2026, Wembley, London

A closing community tournament for I Speak Football, a football-based language programme that teaches English and integration skills to refugees and asylum seekers. Held at the organisation's Wembley campus, the event will bring together players, supporters and other inclusive teams for a large tournament featuring food, music and competitions to celebrate community, migration and football.
