The following incidents of racism, xenophobia, extreme nationalism or homophobia have been reported to Fare during July 2017. This list is only likely to reflect a proportion of the incidents that occurred.

All reports have been brought to Fare’s attention through eyewitness or media accounts. A Fare observer scheme is also currently at place at UEFA club competitions to monitor discriminatory behaviour.

Fare has third party reporting status with UEFA, and FIFA on international matches, and at a national level we can support incident reports made by our members.

06 July 2017 – UEFA Europa League: Botev Plovdiv v FK Partizani Tirana

Several hundred Botev fans sang anti-Albanian chants during the match.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

11 July 2017 – UEFA Champions League: FK Partizan v Budućnost Podgorica

Several FK Partizan fans including the Grobari ultra group sang a number of Ultranationalist chants and unveiled banners in support of Rakto Mladic and Pavle Đurišić

13 July 2017 – UEFA Champions League: HDN Hadjuk Split v PFC Levski Sofi

Approximately 500 home fans on the 53^rd minute of the match chanted “Kill the Serb” inciting interethnic hatred.

18 July 2017 – UEFA Champions League: Budućnost Podgorica v FK Partizan

A group of home fans displayed a banner with the Celtic cross.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

20 July 2017 – UEFA Europa League: FK Crvena Zvezda v Irtysh Pavlodar

A group of Crvena Zvezda fans sang homophobic chants and displayed a discriminatory banner. A portrait of a leader from the Chetnik movement during World War II was also unveiled.

25 July 2017– UEFA Champions League: FK Partizan v Olympiacos

Several thousand Partizan fans carried out a number of discriminatory acts relating to homophobia, racism and sexism.

25 July 2017 – UEFA Champions League: FK Vardar v Kobenhavn

A group of home fans displayed several far-right banners during the match.

26 July 2017 – UEFA Champions League: OGC Nice v Ajax

A group of Nice fans displayed a sexist banner prior to the match.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

27 July 2017 – UEFA Europa League: CSU Craiova v AC Milan

A group of Craiova fans displayed several racist flags and a banner during the match

27 July 2017 – UEFA Europa League: FK Crvena Zvezda v Sparta Praha

A group of home fans displayed a nationalistic far-right banner.

Sanctions

FIFA: Mexico, Serbia and Panama

FIFA sanctioned several national football associations for homophobic, sexist and far-right incidents by spectators during the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. FIFA has fined Mexico (two fines of CHF 10,000), Serbia (CHF 22,500) and Panama (CHF 25,000) following incidents of homophobia at qualifying matches for the 2018 Russia World Cup.
