Dynamo Moscow Christopher Samba asked not to to play the second half of Monday’s (22 September) Moscow derby between Dynamo and Torpedo after he was racially abused by a group of the visitor fans.

Dynamo manager Stanislav Cherchesov had originally claimed that Samba had gone off with a calf injury, but club vice-president Gennady Soloviev said after: "I can confirm Samba felt offended with Torpedo fans and didn’t want to go on the pitch for the second half. That is why he was replaced.”

The incident was included in the report filed by the Russian Football Union delegate at the match and the RFU is expected to discuss it at its meeting today.

Torpedo president Alexander Tukmanov said he had not heard any racist chants but his club could be forced to play matches behind closed doors if the RFU finds that its fans have committed an offence.

Samba also received racist abuse in February 2012 while playing for Anzhi Makhachkala, when a fan threw a banana on the pitch, which Samba then hurled back into the terraces and earlier in August this year by Spartak Moscow fans.
