Berlin hosts International Women´s Football and Culture Festival
The German organisation and FARE member, Discover Football, will host its third international Women´s Football and Culture Festival, from 23rd to 28th July, in Berlin to promote an intercultural understanding of the game.
The festival will feature eight women’s teams from nine countries, mainly from the Middle East and North Africa, including Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon, alongside a mixed team of players from Poland and Ukraine, and a local German team. The event also aims to encourage cultural exchange between people from different backgrounds.
Alongside the football tournament there will be a workshop with a panel discussion around the topic of the role of women in the Arab world, live screenings of UEFA Women's EURO 2013 and other cultural activities, such as music concerts and a soccer camp for girls.
Discover Football is dedicated to using football to strengthen gender equality, empowerment and women´s rights.
