Roundtable: Roma inclusion and the role of sport
The Fare network is hosting a roundtable meeting on the inclusion of Roma communities through sport at the end of March, to take place in Bucharest, Romania.
The roundtable will seek to explore sport as a tool for development of the Roma community, identify barriers (whether it be discrimination, the lack of facilities or others), encourage state and local authorities to consider sport as a methodology to work with the Roma, look at best practices, and celebrate Roma achievement.
The roundtable is open to organisations that are working in the field of inclusion through sport, Roma community organisations, policy makers at local or national level, and researchers and activists interested in this area.

‘If you are interested in ways to change Roma lives for the better… we want to see you in Bucharest’
Raluca Negulescu, chairperson of the Fare network said, “Roma communities across Europe are active in many social fields, football is a particular passion, but there still is not enough work being done to use sport as a means of moving forward inclusion and helping to overcome poverty and marginalization.
“If you are interested in ways in which we can change Roma lives for the better and understand how sport can help do that, we want to see you in Bucharest.”
The event takes place on Wednesday 28th March with representatives expected from across eastern, central and southern Europe, the Balkans, and western Europe. To support participation there is a bursary scheme available to cover travel and accommodation.
If you wish to join us (with or without a bursary) please fill in this application form by March 5th.
Please note the working language of the event will be English.
