Les Dégommeuses tournament to show support for refugees

Fare member Les Dégommeuses is organising a football tournament to show support and promote the inclusion of refugees living in France.

The tournament will take place on Sunday 16 April at the Choumouroux stadium in Yssingeaux, south-central France, and is open to teams, activists and individuals that share the same values and want to celebrate football's role for inclusion.

The tournament is set to follow the success of last year's Foot For Freedom festival, which brought refugees, activists and football fans to Paris to raise awareness of the life trajectories and living conditions of LGBT refugees and play for inclusion ahead of the UEFA 2016 EURO.

The weeklong festival included film screenings, debates, a photo exhibition and workshops on issues related to LGBT inclusion, homophobia and sport, football for social inclusion and anti-discrimination.

Sunday's tournament is being organised in collaboration with the Haute-Loire refugee centre Entraide Pierre Valdo, sports club Union Sportive Sucs et Lignon and the city council of Yssingeaux.
