Fare partner to host roundtable on LGBTIQ inclusion in Slovenia

Fare member Out in Slovenia is using the heightened media attention around the UEFA Futsal EURO 2018 to open a debate on the role of football to promote the inclusion and participation of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transexual (LGBT) community, during the Football v Homophobia (FvH) month of action.

As part of their activities they will be hosting today an international roundtable at the Ljubljana City Hall under the theme Football People – Whole Rainbow of People. The event will take place between 11am-1pm and will bring together a panel of international speakers, including UEFA Head of Social Responsibility Patrick Gasser, Fare Board Member Tamara Tien, Slovenian Football Association (NZS) Head of Sports for All Mr Rajko Korent, Spolint Institute Director Mr Milan Hosta, and as a special guest gay referee Ryan Atkin, who will highlight steps towards a more inclusive and diverse game.

An opening speeches will be given by the Mayor of Ljubljana Mr Zoran Jankovic and the Head of Sport Sector at the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, Mr Darko Repensek, while discussions will be moderated by Slovenian journalist Igor E. Bergant.

The event will be held in English and participation is free of charge. It will be followed by a community event and a social media campaign aimed at furthering the debate at a national level.
