LGBT-rights international campaign Football v Homophobia (FvH) and the Fare network have launched a small grants programme to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT), celebrated on 17 May.[/intro_paragraph]

The fight for equal rights for the LGBT community in football has been given added drive in recent years. The FvH IDAHOT small grants aim to further debates and promote action to challenge prejudice and exclusion against the LGBT community through football.

Ten grants of €400 each will support grassroots clubs, fan groups or community associations to undertake actions to tackle discrimination of LGBT people as part of the FvH campaign.

The scheme is open for applications from anywhere in the world as long as they focus on promoting the core goals of Football v Homophobia, namely:

• Making existing football structures safe, welcoming and inclusive for LGBT people
• Creating opportunities for LGBT people to engage with football
• Improving the representation of LGBT people throughout football

The day is an open period and anyone can take action on discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

If you have an idea, please apply - it is very easy. The deadline for applications to the small grants scheme is 1 May 2015. All successful applicants will be informed of the outcome by 5 May.

IDAHOT
Created in 2004, the IDAHOT aims to draw the attention of policymakers, opinion leaders, social movements, the public and the media to the violence and discrimination experienced by LGBTI people internationally.

In 2015 the focus will be LGBTI youth, stressing the right of people to grow up in safe and welcoming environments, where they can develop their personalities and talents respectfully of their individualities.
