EGLSF's annual conference and General Assembly will bring together NGO representatives and delegates of European LGBT clubs to debate major issues around migration and diversity in sport, between 3-5 March in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The conference, on 3 March, will present a platform for an international exchange on diversity and the fight against homophobia and transphobia and the impact of the increasing influx of refugees and migrants in Europe on these topics.

Dirk Behmer, EGLSF representative, said: "Germany has welcomed over a million refugees, many from more conservative societies. We are convinced that sport is a good way to get together, to get to know each other and fight prejudices from both sides."

The conference will be constituted of three workshops, which according to Behmer aim to "not only to share experiences but to develop best practise that can be used by other clubs and organisations." Topics addressed will include: how to turn a homophobic sports environment into LGBT friendly; how to address homophobia and transphobia through sporting events; and, emancipation through women's-only and lesbian sports clubs.

The conference will also include a presentation of the Ugandan project "Safe Heaven", which is raising awareness and helping fight homophobia and transphobia.

The General Assembly will take place on 4 and 5 March and will, among other topics, determine the host city for the next EuroGames.
