Combatting hate speech in sport
Registration for online training to combat hate speech and discrimination in sport for football trainers is now open.[/intro_paragraph]
As part of European project Get inclusive in the Game (GIIG), the Fare network and its GIIG partners are looking for sport trainers to enrol in online training sessions to combat hate speech and discrimination in sport.
The No Hate Speech Movement will deliver two free online training sessions focusing on the use of different non-formal education methods for human rights education and activism against hate speech.
The training sessions will provide the participants with both theoretical and practical tools to use in their work as football trainers. The training sessions will focus on the narrative of hate speech and provide the football trainer with background information on the topic and an introduction to the no hate campaign.
It will also provide the participants with educational and practical tools to detect and report hate speech, as well as provide them with practical examples to organise an Action Day.
The online training comprises two 2 hourly sessions split over two days. The online training will be via Google hangout, in English and free of charge.
GIIG, an ERASMUS+ project funded by the European Commission, aims to promote voluntary activities in sport that foster the social inclusion of minority groups, equal opportunities and raise awareness of health-enhancing physical activity.
Deadline for registration is April 4 2017.
The training sessions will be held on 5 and 6 of April between 17.00-19.00 CET.
