The Fare network is delighted to welcome Dr. Brenda Elsey to the team as its new Development Lead for the CONMEBOL and CONCACAF regions. Dr. Elsey will design programs, identify issues of discrimination and provide research and analytical support to further the work of the Fare network in the Americas. Dr. Elsey is an associate professor at Hofstra University and co-director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies. She holds a Ph.D. from SUNY-Stony Brook in History and Women’s and Gender Studies and has researched and written extensively on the social and political significance of football in Latin America, with attention to gender, sexual, class, and racial discrimination. In addition to her research and scholarship, Dr. Elsey has worked with women’s football organisations in Latin America in grass-roots project development.
