20 years of Mondiali Antirazzisti
Fan groups, football enthusiasts and activists from across Europe will meet between 06 and 10 July in Parco Di Bosco Albergati, in the Italian region of Modena, to show their solidarity in addressing global problems and celebrate the power of sport to bring people together.
The annual festival, organised by the Italian Fare member UISP and Progetto Ultra, will focus its 20th edition on the current European refugee crisis through a series of talks and the increased participation of refugee teams in the tournament.
Held at the same time as France hosts EURO 2016, 184 teams will compete in a range of sports, including football, rugby, basketball, volleyball and lacrosse, promoting sport for inclusion, equality and diversity.
In addition, the festival's programme also comprises discussions on issues including sport and civil rights and social commitment, female participation in sport, migration and refugee inclusion. The festival will also include interviews, live screenings of EURO 2016 matches and workshops, as well as other cultural activities, such as concerts and historical tours.
The Mondiali Antirazzisti is a non-competitive non-comercial festival. Over the last 20 years the event has grown to be the largest anti-racist sporting festival in Europe and a landmark for progressive fan groups and activists in the region.
As in previous years, Fare will be backing the 20th edition of the tournament and will have an information stall to share guidance and material about the 2016 Football People action weeks.
