Five amateur teams, constituted of female players from disadvantaged backgrounds and ethnic minorities, came together, between 06-07 June, to play in the ‘Play Like a Champion Today’ tournament and promote female participation in Albanian football.

During the two-day gathering, in the Albanian northwestern city of Shkodër, 100 players from across the country discussed the importance of football for inclusion and gender equity through workshops and the screening of a documentary on football’s impact in the lives of disadvantaged communities.

The football initiative, which also included a tournament and other social activities, such as a sight seeing tour in Shkodër, was organised by the Fare member organisation The Door Albania.
