Celebrating partnership against discrimination in Paris
Events to celebrate the 5th Day of Respect were organised around the French Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and FC Nantes last Saturday 6th December. The Paris Saint-Germain Foundation in partnership with SOS Racisme and Fare members Sportitude and Paris Foot Gay implemented a range of educational activities against racism, homophobia and other forms of discrimination around the match.
Activities of the Day of Respect were held in two stages, first involving 30 children from various backgrounds aged twelve to fifteen years old in awareness training at PSG headquarters on Wednesday 3rd December.
Coaches from PSG Foundation and educational centre of Paris Foot Gay b.YOURSELF delivered training on the importance of Respect and fight against all forms of prejudice and discrimination. The children watched a video clip, were invited to answer a fun quiz and everyone received an educational kit.
A number of activities were held at the match day on 6th December including the colourful opening ceremony with large banners featuring the message of Respect and distribution of educational leaflets to fans inside the stadium.
Ten years of partnership against homophobia
Fare members Paris Foot Gay celebrate their tenth anniversary this year marking also ten years of active collaboration with Paris Saint-Germain. In 2007, Alain Cayzac (Honorary President of the Paris Foot Gay) was the first president of a professional club to sign the Charter against homophobia in football. Since 2004, regular actions against homophobia were organised at the Parc des Princes.
