Over the weekend Berlin will be the centre of a series of football-related activities looking to address the social inclusion of migrants and asylum seekers in host countries as part of a collaboration between the Italian Fare member Balon Mundial ONLUS and Vetomat Association.
The initiatives will take place on Sunday 22 November in the district of Friedrichshain, where Vetomat has been working with local and migrant communities in fighting prejudice and addressing new global realities such as mass migration and trans-cultural identities.
Activities will consist of a 'Street Mundial' football 3v3 tournament, organised by Balon Mundial and open to the general public, a friendly match between a team of asylum seekers living in the district and the futsal team 'Dronken pirates', formed of Italian migrants living in Brussels, and a round table discussion.
The latter named "Migrants, asylum seekers and projects of social inclusion through sport – a comparison between the experience of Balon Mundial in Turin and the experience of the organizations that work in Berlin" is looking discuss approaches and opportunities in using sport as a tool for inclusion.
