An anti-discrimination initiative lead by the Australian anti-racism charity All Together Now brought together the Australian Football Federation (FFA) and the country's union of football players (PFA) to campaign against racism.

The joint initiative, held between 27 February and 2 March, renamed the Round 21 of the Australian A-League to ‘Erase Racism Round’ to highlight the league and players' commitment to end racism and promote multiculturalism.

“It is important that we tackle this issue head on and this event is a way of educating people on the immeasurable benefits multiculturalism and diversity bring to Australia." said the recently appointed All Together Now ambassador and Adelaide United striker Bruce Djite.

“Everyone has a role to play in erasing racism and we can make a positive impact on society by helping to do so.” stressed Djite, who is also a PFA Executive member.

The campaign also includes an ad featuring a number of players talking about how racism has infiltrated the game, how players should focus on what unites them rather then their differences and suggesting that all levels of the game should work together to tackle racism.
