An anti-homophobia initiative will bring together football representatives and campaigners to debate on the issues around homophobia in sports and build an alliance to counter discrimination, next Wednesday (5 February), in Manchester.[/intro_paragraph]

Alongside with the debate, a Question and Answer (Q&A) session and a pop-exhibition will also feature the event organised by the Fare member Just A Ball Game? (JBG?). The debate and the Q&A will both be recorded to air the following day on the BBC radio programme 5live.

"We are very proud to announce our partnership with the National Football Museum who will host our pop-up exhibition, which contains informative and educational panels around LGBT inclusion and visibility in sport." said the Founder of JBG?, Lindsay England.

"As a small not for profit voluntary community-based organisation, JBG? relies on donations and volunteers’ goodwill to exist. By raising our profile in this way we hope more people will buy into our work and help us make a difference to people’s lives." she added.

Liam Davis, Britain’s only openly gay footballer, will head the line-up panel of guest speakers that will also include the organisation’s patrons Clarke Carlisle, Andie Worrall, Maria Exall and Kieron Brady, and the Chairmen of the English clubs AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Gainsborough Trinity's, Ralph Burditt and Liam Davis, respectively.

Held at the National Football Museum, the event will be organised in partnership with the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and Kick it Out (KIO) in the frame of the LGBT month of action.

The event is free to attend, however registration is required.
