The Sala Roja of the Montevideo City Hall was filled to the brim on Thursday 16 August as the local not for profit APRI Deportes organised Uruguay's first international seminar on adapted sports.
The event, which is part of the Fare Global Grants scheme, saw experts from Uruguay and Argentina debate challenges and opportunities in the field.
A total of 150 participants joined the discussions led by the Argentine Association of Cerebral Palsy, Uruguay’s Secretary for Social Inclusion and Sports, Amputee Football Uruguay and learned from the papers of several researchers from across South America.
Three panels addressed topics including strategies to promote and develop adapted sports, adapted sports as part of the core work of community organisations and sharing best practices.
The event was held in Uruguay's capital Montevideo, supported by National Secretary for Sport and Montevideo City Hall and followed by short demonstrations of several adapted sports.
