Incidents list reported to Fare during October 201505 November 2015

The following incidents of racism, xenophobia, extreme nationalism or homophobia have been reported to Fare during October 2015. This list is only likely to reflect a proportion of the incidents that occurred.

All reports have been brought to Fare’s attention through eye-witness or media accounts. A Fare observer scheme is also currently at place at UEFA club competitions to monitor discriminatory behaviour.

Fare has third party reporting status with UEFA, and FIFA on international matches, and at a national level we can support incident reports made by our members.

01 October 2015 – UEFA Europa League: Lokomotiv Moskva v Skënderbeu

A group of Lokomotiv Moskva fans chanted xenophobic songs targeting Albanians.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

03 October 2015 – Croatian First League: NK Slaven Belupo v HNK Hadjuk

A group of NK Slaven Belupo fans chanted homophobic slurs and later anti-Roma remarks targeting the match referees.

04 October 2015 – Slovakian Doxxbet Liga: ŠK Slovan Bratislava juniori – ŠK Senec

Slovan fans displayed a far-right banner depicting trains arriving to Auschwitz reading ‘Refugees welcome’. 

08 October 2015 – FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier: Chile v Brazil

Large groups of Chilean fans chanted homophobic songs targeting Brazilian fans.

A report was sent to FIFA for action.

09 October 2015 – UEFA EURO 2016 Qualifier: Moldova v Russia

Moldova national team home supporters displayed multiple xenophobic, far-right and racist banners.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

10 October 2015 – CONCACAF CUP: Mexico v United States

Recurring homophobic chants were sang by Mexican fans throughout the match.

Further sexist, homophobic and anti-migrant slogans were also sang by individual USA fans.

11 October 2015 – Portuguese II Liga: Desportivo das Aves v Leixões

A group of Leixões fans allegedly chanted racist slurs.

11 October 2015 – Spanish regional amateur league: Atlético Zamora v Villaseco

A player of Villaseco was targeted with racist abuse.

12 October 2015 – UEFA EURO 2016 Qualification: Ukraine v Spain

Ukraine national team supporters displayed a large banner featuring neo-Nazi symbol in a form of a Celtic cross.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

13 October 2015 – FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier: Paraguay v Argentina

Paraguay fans chanted sexist and xenophobic chants and displayed a xenophobic banner.

A report was sent to FIFA for action.

13 October 2015 – FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifier: Peru v Chile

Both teams’ fans chanted homophobic chants.

A report was sent to FIFA for action.

13 October 2015 – UEFA EURO 2016 Qualification: Belgium v Israel

Belgium supporters displayed an anti-Semitic banner before kick-off inside the stadium. The banner was taken down by the stadium personnel and didn’t appear at kick-off.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

18 October 2015 – Russian Premier League: Spartak Moskva v Lokomotiv

Spartak Moskva fan displayed several anti-refugee and far-right banners.

20 October 2015 – UEFA Champions League: FC Dynamo Kyiv v Chelsea

A group of Dynamo Kyiv ultras launched a violent racist attack against at least 8 black fellow Dynamo fans during the match in the stadium.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

22 October 2015 – UEFA Europa League: APOEL v FC Asteras

APOEL fans chanted xenophobic chants towards Asteras fans.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

25 October 2015 – Austrian Football Bundesliga: Rapid Wien v Austria Wien

Austria Wien fans displayed an Islamophobic banner, Rapid fans displayed a far-right flag.

25 October 2015 – Dutch Eredivisie: Vitesse Arnhem v Ajax Amsterdam

Vitesse fans displayed an anti-Semitic banner and sang anti-Semitic chants.

25 October 2015 – Italian Eccellenza Puglia Championship: Pro Italia Galatina v AS Fasano

Pro Italia fans displayed an anti-Semitic banner targeting Fasano fans: “Today’s menu: Roast Fasanese” making a reference to crematorium used by the Nazis.

27 October 2015 – Ukrainian Premier League: Vorskla FC v FK Chormonorets Odessa

Vorskla FC player Artem Gromov reported to media he heard FK Chormonorets Odessa player Dmytro Korkishko making a racist remark towards Vorskla player Sanzhar Tursunov.

31 October 2015 – Polish Ekstraklasa: Śląsk Wroclaw v Lech Poznan

A group of Śląsk Wroclaw fans displayed an anti-Islam and anti-refugee tifo.

09 October 2015 – Peruvian media: Ecuador

Peruvian media used racist terms to refer to Ecuador and their loss against Argentina at the FIFA World Cup Qualifier encounter on 08 October.

14 October 2015 – Brasileirão: Atlético PR v Cruzeiro

Cruzeiro player Allano was targeted with racist comments on Instagram.

18 October 2015 – Gerard Houllier

Former France and Liverpool coach Gerard Houllier allegedly made racist remarks targeting Mumbai City FC player-coach Nicolas Anelka in his autobiography.

18 October 2015 – Gwangju player Cassiano

Gwangju (South Korea) Brazilian player Cassiano was targeted with racist abuse on Instagram.

20 October 2015 – Stefano Eranio

Former Genoa and Milan player Stefano Eranio made a racist remark against black players while commenting the Champions League match Roma v Bayer Leverkusen for the Swiss television station Rsi.

Sanctions

UEFA: Lokomotiv Moskva 

UEFA have sanctioned Lokomotiv with a stadium closure and a €20,000 fine over their fans xenophobic chats at the Europa League match against Skënderbeu on 01 October 2015.

UEFA: Moldova

UEFA have ordered the partial closure of the Football Association of Moldova Stadium during the next (1) UEFA competition match in which Moldova would play as the host association and fined Moldova FA € 15,000 over the display of discriminatory banners at the Euro Qualifier against Russia on 09 October 2015.

UEFA: Ukraine

UEFA ordered the Football Federation of Ukraine to play their next (1) UEFA competition match as host association behind closed doors and fined the Football Federation of Ukraine € 50,000 for the racist behaviour of  their supporters at the Euro Qualifier against Spain on 12 October 2015.

UEFA: FC Dynamo Kyiv

UEFA have ordered FC Dynamo Kyiv to play their next three UEFA competition matches as host club behind closed doors over the racist attack of their fans during the Champions League match against Chelsea on 20 October 2015. The third match was suspended for a probationary period of three years.

The club was also been fined €100,000.

The sanction was adjusted on appeal and FC Dynamo Kyiv were then ordered to play one UEFA competition match as host club behind closed doors and fined €50,000.
