3rd anti-racist “Eurofan 2009” tournament in Lviv, Ukraine15 June 2009

From 25-28 June 2009 the FARE member Public Organization “Karpaty” are organising the traditional international fan-festival for football supporters from different countries called “Eurofan-2009” for the 3rd consecutive year in Lviv.

This year 16 teams (incl. the organisers) announced their participation, amongst them other FARE members like the Schalker Fan-Initiative e.V. from Germany, FC Zenit Supporters Club from Russia, Bohemians Ultras from the Czech Republic and a team of Croatian supporters organised by the youth organisation Step Ahead.
The other fans’ teams come from Liverpool (England), Glasgow Rangers (Scotland), Wisla Krakow + Ostrovia (both Poland), Rapid (Austria), Heerenveen (The Netherlands), Inter Milan, Chievo Verona (both Italy), Atletico Madrid (Spain), Wales supporters team, and a team of Ukrainian showbiz stars FC Maestro.

FARE will be represented by members of the Polish FARE partner Never Again Association. Spokesman Rafal Pankowski said:
The new long-term East European FARE programme is to kick-start in July. We are happy to share our experiences with Ukrainian partners, especially in the run-up to the UEFA 2012 European Football Championship which brings together our countries facing a common challenge.

During games there will be live comments, music and entertaining contests. All interested teams’ members and volunteers will get privileged tickets for a large rock festival organised by “Persha Pryvatna Brovarnya” (official partner of “Eurofan” project), which will take place in Lviv on 29 June 2009.

Also during the tournament a charitable act “From European fans to Lviv children” will take place. Some delegations are bringing humanitarian supplies (sports equipment, toys, sweets etc.) to Lviv. In addition PO “Karpaty” together with “Maltese aid service” will organise fundraising. The money raised will be spent to buy football kits, balls for children’s football teams of boarding schools of Lviv and Lviv region.

The “Eurofan” project is included in the official list of events in the course of preparations to UEFA EURO 2012TM by Lviv City Council.

An official press conference with participation of organizers, partners and delegations’ representatives will take place few days before the tournament.
