Racist Abuse Still Exists in England19 October 2002

Sheffield United and Zimbabwe striker Peter Ndlovu was the latest victim of racist abuse, this time in England. The incidents occurred at Brighton’s Withdean Stadium, just a week after Kick It Out’s FARE Action Week campaign. Referee Phil Prosser has noted in his report to the FA, that the Brighton fans racially abused both himself and Peter Ndlovu. Sheffield United FC have also lodged a complaint.

If you have been following the English press over the past few weeks, you’d be forgiven for thinking that racist abuse is something that English teams suffer when playing on mainland Europe. Unfortunately it still exists in English football stadiums.
