Fare to join Europe’s largest anti-racism football tournament

The Mondial Antirazzisti, Europe's oldest and largest anti-discrimination football tournament, will bring together over 5000 football fans and enthusiasts from across Europe to Modena, Italy, for five days of sport, talks and cultural activities against discrimination.

A total of 400 matches will be played throughout the days of the festival in a range of different sports including football, rugby, volley and basket.

Fare will be in attendance at the event. On Saturday 3 July at 3PM Fare will make a presentation of its work and officially launch the Football People action weeks. A stall with informative materials and Fare merchandising will be placed at the Piazza Antirazzisti.

One of the highlights of the event will be the debate Diamo un calcio a questo calcio (in English 'Let’s give a kick to this football'), to be held on 3 July, and that will feature the president of the Italian Football Players association Damiano Tommasi, the president of Italian association of football coaches, Renzo Ulivieri, Uisp National president, Vincenzo Manco, the Italian journalist Luca Di Bartolomei and the Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Cécile Kyenge.

Another highlight of the event will be the presentation of the lastest work of the English writer Cass Pennant, 'Beverley', which tells the story of a teenager of African descent fighting in the 80's for the recognition of her identity.

The football tournament will kick-off on Thursday with over 170 teams competing for the 11 cups of the competition.

The Mondiali Antirazzisti is an initiative organised by the Fare partner UISP in collaboration with the Fare network and the support of the Castelfranco Emilia municipality, AIC, Hera Group and Cgil.
