Police clamp down on football bigotry01 September 2004

Police in Scotland have arrested 23 people for race or religious-related offences during the Celtic V Rangers match on Sunday 29 August. Under the recent Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act, aggravated racist or religious prejudice is unlawful.

Both Celtic and Rangers have encouraged their supporters to cease bigotry and racism at their football matches. Celtic have their Bhoys Against Bigotry whilst Rangers’ “Blue Order” have previously been involved in similar campaigns.
