Incidents list reported to Fare during August 201505 September 2015

The following incidents of racism, xenophobia, extreme nationalism or homophobia have been reported to Fare during August 2015. This list is only likely to reflect a proportion of the incidents that occurred.

All reports have been brought to Fare’s attention through eye-witness or media accounts. A Fare observer scheme is also currently at place at UEFA club competitions to monitor discriminatory behaviour.

Fare has third party reporting status with UEFA, and FIFA on international matches, and at a national level we can support incident reports made by our members.

01 August 2015 – Russian Premier League: CSKA Moskva v Anzhi

CSKA fans displayed a xenophobic banner and chanted xenophobic chants against Anzhi and people from North Caucasus.

01 August 2015 – Czech Synot Liga: Sparta Praha v Banik Ostrava

Sparta fans displayed a banner featuring neo-Nazi symbols.

02 August – Chelsea fans

Chelsea fans physically assaulted a Muslim woman outside the stadium on a bus stop Wembley Central.

02 August 2015 – Czech Synot Liga: FK Jablonec v Bohemians Praha

Jablonec fans displayed a large Islamophobic banner.

04 August 2015 – Mexican Copa MX: Pachuca v Atlante

Pachuca players directed monkey chants at 4th official Adalid Maganda. The incident was report by the match referee Felipe Ramos Rizo, but the players denied such actions.

05 August 2015 – UEFA Champions League: FC Basel 1893 v KKS Lech Poznań

Supporters of Lech Poznan chanted far-right slogans during the game and displayed a far-right banner before kick-off.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

05 August 2015 – UEFA Champions League: FC Viktoria Plzeň v Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC

Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC supporters chanted Islamophobic and xenophobic chants.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

05 August 2015 – UEFA Champions League: FK Partizan v FC Steaua Bucureşti

Partizan fans directed monkey chants when Steaua Fernando Varela was sent off and walking off the pitch.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

06 August 2015 – UEFA Europa League: Spartak Trnava v PAOK

Spartak fans chanted anti-Roma chants.

07 August 2015 – Czech Synot Liga: Zbrojovka Brno v Slavia Praha

Zbrojovka fans displayed a large Islamophobic banner

08 August – ADO Den Haag fans

ADO Den Haag fans shouted anti-Semitic slogans during a fan protest.

08 August 2015 – Bulgarian A League: Lokomotiv Plovdiv v Litex Lovech

Lokomotiv fans chanted racist chants.

08 August 2015 – English Premier League: Chelsea v Swansea

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho made a sexist comment towards team doctor Eva Carneiro.

20 August 2015 – UEFA Europa League: Zorya Luhansk v Legia Warsaw

Zorya fans displayed a far-right flag

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

20 August 2015 – UEFA Europa League: Steaua FC v BK Rosenborg

Steaua fans chanted anti-Roma chants.

A report was sent to UEFA for action.

21 August – Brazil: Fluminense v Paysandu

Fluminense fan Nicole Silva, called Paysandu players indigenous and racially abused them.

22 August 2015 – Ukrainian Cup: Girnyak Sport v Dynamo Kyiv

Dynamo Kyiv fans displayed a far-right banner

22 August 2015 – Ukrainian Cup: Zirka v Kapraty Lviv

Kapraty Lviv fans displayed a far-right banner.

23 August 2015 – Bulgarian A League: Lokomotiv Plovdiv v PFC Levski Sofia

Levski fans displayed a large banner featuring neo-Nazi symbol.

30 August 2015 – Amateur football Germany: TuS Makkabi v BFC meteor

Both teams exchanged anti-Semitic and anti-Muslim insults leading to a mass fight.

29 August – Twitter: Ryan Babel, player of Al Ain

UAE team Al Ain forward Ryan Babel made sexist remarks towards a female fan on Twitter.

Sanctions

Bulgaria FA: Lokomotiv Plovdiv

The Bulgarian Football Union fined Lokomotiv €18,000 over fans’ racism at the Bulgarian A League match against Litex Lovech on 08 August.

Czech FA: FK Jablonec 

Czech FA fined Jablonec €3,700 Eur for the display of an Islamophobic banner on 02 August.

English FA: José Mourinho

The English FA cleared José Mourinho of alleged sexism at the Chelsea v Swansea match on 08 August.

Leicester City: Jamie Vardy 

Jamie Vardy was fined by the Leicester City and ordered to take diversity training after using a racist slur at Asian man in casino in July 2015.

UEFA: KKS Lech Poznań 

UEFA CEDB ordered KKS Lech Poznań to play their next UEFA competition match as host club behind closed doors and to fine €50,000 for the racist behaviour of its supporters. The sanction regards incidents in July and August at matches against FK Sarajevo and FC Basel 1893.

UEFA: Spartak Trnava v PAOK

UEFA have ordered Spartak to play one match behind closed doors and fined the club €55,000 over fans’ racism at match on 06 August.

UEFA: Steaua FC

UEFA opened disciplinary proceedings for Steaua FC fans racism on 20 August but later closed the case.
