EGLSF make available small grants to tackle homophobia

As part of their EU funded ‘Pride in Sport’ programme the EGLSF Board have announced a new initiative to support the development of ‘inspirational’ local projects to tackle homophobia. They are offering 12 grants of 1000 Euros (with 200 Euros match funded by the applicant).

The Good Practice Development fund is open to all EGLSF members and other interested sports organisations who are based in the European Union.

Projects to be supported will need to have a clear aim to:

> Raise awareness and understanding of homophobia
> Enhance the capacity of LGBT sports groups
> Promote LGBT human rights through sport, bridge the gap between new member states in the East and old member states in the West
> Improve networks of those working to combat homophobia and promote LGBT inclusion in sport across Europe – including grass roots organisations, Sports Governing Bodies and campaigning organisations.

Successful organisations will also be required to attend a mini conference in either Utrecht in October 2012 or in Antwerp in March 2013 to present their project and share outcomes with other funded groups.

How to apply
Please go to www.EGLSF.info and complete the application form. The deadline for applications is 05/10/2012. The decision on which projects to fund will be made by the EGLSF Board by the 20 October.
