Documentary celebrates three pioneering UK black players08 September 2003

A brilliant radio documentary looking at the significance of the debuts of Laurie Cunningham, Cyril Regis and Brendon Batson for West Bromwich Albion during the 1977- 78 season, can be heard now on the Radio 4 web-site.

The “Three Degrees West” documentary celebrates the achievements of the three set against the social and political background of the time. The Three Degrees, as they were affectionately known at the time, made an enormous impact on football, facing of racism, overturning stereotypes and paving the way for many other black players to follow.
