Armenian Youth Initiative NGO chosen as face of UEFA’s 2018 Football People weeks promotional materials

UEFA have chosen to use a photo from the Armenian NGO ‘Youth Initiatives Promotion Center’ as promotional material for their match day adverts for the UEFA Champions League and Europa League during this year's Football People weeks.

A captivating and memorable photo of the young activists from Yerevan taking part in their action weeks activities during last year's campaign will be seen across Europe by fans attending games, in UEFA programmes and other materials.

The photo, taken by Ryu Voelkel, is from an activity organised by the Armenian group which helped raise awareness about the inclusion of refugees in Armenia.

During the 2017 Football People weeks the group organised a football tournament that brought together mixed teams of the NGO YIPC, Association of Syrian Refugees in Armenia and Students Council of Armenian National Agrarian University, who all came together to tackle social exclusion.

UEFA's choice can be seen as reward for what was a great event - and photo to capture it. The photo was also included in match day programmes for the UEFA Nations League games around the continent.

The #FootballPeople weeks is Europe's largest social change campaign in sport. For two weeks between the 11th-25th October more than 2,000 activities take place in over 60 countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia.

The campaign aims to drive social inclusion and tackle discrimination, using football as a vehicle to educate, inspire and promote equality for all.
