"More than playing Games" Conference @ Eurogames 2007

"More than playing Games" Conference

FARE-Partner European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) invites this week to an international conference on Homophobia in Football in the build-up for the 11th Eurogames at Antwerp.

The „…More than Playing Games“ - Conference in Antwerp, held in cooperation with the Belgian HolebiFederation, offers two workshops which give the opportunity to

• learn about homophobia in football and good practices in the fight against it or
• discuss a joint declaration about equal treatment of heterosexuality and homosexuality
in sport.

The conference is held in commemoration to John Blankenstein, the only openly gay UEFA referee, who died in August 2006.

Eurogames 2007

The Eurogames are the biggest athletic event for lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people in Europe. From 12 to 15 July, the city of Antwerp welcomes about 3.000 participants and 10.000 visitors. Besides challenging each competitor to excel in sports, the 2007 EuroGames aim to boost acceptance and integration of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people by and into our society.

As the EuroGames 2007 slogan indicates, it's not about merely playing games in Antwerp but about participating in high-standard athletic competitions and having the chance to experience a smorgasbord of cultural events.
