Getafe fans in repeat racist abuse incident

A section of Getafe fans chanted racist abuse at Valencia's Portuguese fullback Miguel during their King's Cup last 16 first leg match on Wednesday 10th January.

Match stopped

The referee stopped the match in the second half and asked the club to put out an announcement in the stadium asking for fans to stop making the noises, Spanish media reported.

Getafe made an appeal on the public address system and put a message up on the scoreboard.

"The fans in Getafe in general are very good but among them there are a few idiots," Valencia and former Getafe coach Quique Sanchez Flores said after the game, which ended 1-1.

Regular occurrence

"This thing happens in nearly all the stadiums but you always hear too much from these few idiots."

Last season Getafe were fined 3,000 euros by the Spanish Football Federation after fans made racist chants at Barcelona's Cameroon striker Samuel Eto'o, following a derisory 600 euros punishment after a similar incident with Eto'o the previous season.
